The Dillon Wildcats added wins over Andrews, Aynor, and Waccamaw in last week’s baseball action.

On Monday, April 16, the Wildcats took down Andrews 9-1. Eighth-grader Duncan Callahan pitched his second varsity game for Dillon and struck out nine over six innings for the win. He allowed three hits and one unearned run and hit three batters.

Kwinton Smith led the Wildcats at bat, hitting his fifth home run of the season and going 2-for-4. Jamie Callahan went 2-for-4 with a triple, and Daniel Huggins hit a double.

On Tuesday, April 17, the Wildcats hosted Aynor and took down the Blue Jackets 3-2.

Daniel Huggins pitched five and one-thirds innings, allowing four hits while striking out four and walking two. Kwinton Smith picked up the win, going one and two-thirds innings, striking out five.

Weston Bailey had two hits and an RBI for the Wildcat. Jamie Callahan had a hit and an RBI, and Thomas Grosetti had two hits in the win.

On Thursday, the Wildcats took on Waccamaw and shut out the Warriors 6-0.

Jamie Callahan struck out 14 and finished the regular season with a 6-0 record. Ethan Hayes had two RBIs for Dillon in the win.

With the wins, the Wildcats finished out the regular season with an undefeated 10-0 in Region 8-2A and a 14-2 record overall.

State playoffs begin on Thursday, April 26. Dillon will be hosting Region 7-2A’s fourth place finisher in the District VIII playoffs.
