The Dillon Christian School Warriors fell 11-8 to The Byrnes Schools Trojans on Friday, March 9, in Florence.
In one of the closest games of the Warriors’ season to date, Dillon Christian started things off with three runs in the first inning to lead 3-1 heading into the second. The Trojans added a second run in the second inning, but the Warriors widened the lead with two runs to lead 5-2 at the top of the third.
Byrnes rallied for four runs in the third to give them the lead for the first time in the game, and both teams added two runs in the fourth to keep the Titans ahead 8-7. The Warriors tied things up in the sixth with one run. But the Trojans took the lead once more with three runs in the bottom of the sixth, and held off the Warriors in the top of the seventh to claim the win.
Troy Davis went 1-for-2 for Dillon Christian, with Joshua Price and Chad Quick each going 1-for-3. The Warriors had a total of six hits.
Justin Robinson led The Byrnes Schools at 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Weston Lewis went 3-for-4 with four RBIs; Bryson Davis went 2-for-4, and Rickie Ford went 1-for-3.
Dillon Christian’s Josh Price took the loss, going five innings with 11 runs, seven earned runs, 12 hits, and one walk, striking out five. Bryson Davis got the win for the Trojans, pitching four innings and striking out seven, allowing five runs, three earned runs, one hit, and six walks.
The Trojans improve to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in SCISA Region 4-2A, while Dillon Christian slips to 0-5.
The Warriors will be taking the week off for senior trips, but will be back in action on Monday, March 19, for a 7:00 p.m. matchup at Williamsburg Academy.
