Dillon Christian School’s Kin Melvin, who recently set a new all-time scoring record at the school, has been named to the South Carolina Independent School Association’s Region 4-2A All-Region basketball team.

The senior has been crucial to the Warrior’s season, leading the Warriors in almost every game. He has earned over 1,224 points in his high school career, and helped the Warriors to a 13-13 season.

For the second straight year, The Byrnes Schools’ Shaq Bacote and Meghan Osborne were named the SCISA Region 4-2A Players of the Year. Bacote led the Trojans to the top of the regular season ranking and to victory in the tournament championship.

The Byrnes Schools’ Dyeshawn Jones and Justin Robinson were also named to the All-Region team, along with Trinity Collegiate’s Damon Samuel, Marlboro Academy’s Malcolm Calhoun and Will Bundy, Pee Dee Academy’s Keith Brown, The King’s Academy’s Christopher Dean, and Williamsburg Academy’s Shuler Ward and Tyler Braynon.

The Byrnes School’s Brad Bochette was named boys basketball coach of the year.

On the girls team, Osborne, who has scored more than 1,800 points in her high school career, was joined by Pee Dee Academy’s Mary Gregg, Heather Gibson, and Jennifer Smith, The King’s Academy’s Lisa Van Baaren and Addie Bokelman, Trinity Collegiate’s Gabby McElveen and Janie Fuller, and Marlboro Academy’s Kristen English and McKayla Pruitt.

Trinity Collegiate’s Brian Kaye was named girls coach of the year.
