Latta Police Chief Bobby Powers will be retiring effective March 1, 2012, according to an announcement made by Latta Mayor Nancy Brigman at the Latta Town Council meeting on Thursday.
In the letter announcing his intention to retire, Chief Powers recommended Lt. Crystal Moore as a replacement.
Mayor Brigman named Moore as the incoming chief. She has been in law enforcement for 23 years. Moore thanked the council for their support and said she looked forward to working with them.
Moore will be the town’s first female police chief.
