The Herald learned shortly before press time on Wednesday that the South Carolina Court of Appeals has decided to give Bentley Collins a new trial.
Collins was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and three counts of owning a dangerous animals and was sentenced to five years in prison and five years probation in connection with the November 2006 dog mauling death of Matthew Davis.
The ruling states that the decision of the trial court to admit the photos of Davis is reversed and the case is remanded for a new trial.
