The Dillon Wildcats fell 70-62 to Marion on Friday as the Swamp Foxes maintained a perfect record in Region 8-AA.

Marion got off to a narrow 16-14 lead by the end of the first, but Dillon took control in the second, outscoring Marion 21-13 for a 35-29 Wildcat lead at the half. The Swamp Foxes outscored Dillon 19-11 in the third to take back control of the game with a 48-46 lead heading into the fourth. The Wildcats battled hard but the Swamp Foxes kept the lead as they outscored Dillon 22-16 to win by eight points.

D.J. Kelly scored a game-high 21 points to lead Marion, with Keyonta Foxworth adding 15 and Marqui McKelvy earning 14 in the win. Devantay Emanuel scored nine, Chris Washington earned five, Yamod Rowell added four, and Michael Outlaw earned two points for the Swamp Foxes.

Jalik Bethea led Dillon with a team-high 18 points, followed by Breon Page with 16 and Eri’Reon Hayes with 12. Maurice Williams and Julius Saunders each added six points, and Lavaris Hargrove scored four for the Wildcats.

Marion’s overall record is now 16-6 with an undefeated 8-0 record in Region 8-AA. The Wildcats fall to 10-12 overall and 4-4 in the league.

Dillon was scheduled to travel to Loris on Monday and will be in Waccamaw on Wednesday to close out the regular season.
