The Lady Vikings picked up a 79-55 win over Johnsonville on Tuesday to extend their winning streak to six games in a row.

Latta jumped out to an early lead, going 14-6 in the first and 20-18 in the second to lead 34-24 at the half. But the third quarter sealed the win for the Lady Vikings as they outscored Johnsonville by a whopping 32-8 to carry a 66-32 lead into the final quarter. The Lady Flashes rallied to go 23-13 to close the game, but Latta remained victorious at 79-55.

Tianna Deberry scored a game-high 31 points to lead Latta with Jessica Evans earning 20 and Brittany Burgess adding 12 points in the win. Takeira Legette scored 10 points for the Lady Vikings and Maya Wright added six in the win.

Johnsonville was led by Keyarah Turner with a team-high 16 points and Nicole Hannah with 13. Shane mack scored 10, Khanyzah Weaver earned nine, and Machala Weaver scored three for the Flashes.

Latta’s overall record improves to 6-5 with a 5-1 record in Region 8A.

On Friday, the Lady Vikings will host Creek Bridge for their second meeting of the season. Then on Tuesday, January 24, Latta will host the Hemingway Tigers, who delivered Latta’s only region loss of the season on December 13 when they defeated the Vikings 45-32.
