A Dillon man was killed in a house fire on Monday, October 31st, according to Coroner Donnie Grimsley.
Grimsley identified the man as John Leonard Hood, Jr., age 40, of Dillon.
Grimsley said the body was being taken for autopsy. There is no suspicion of foul play, Grimsley said.
According to a report by Sgt. Michael Yoder of the City of Dillon Police Department, at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday, officers were sent to an alarm call for a structure fire that went to a burglar alarm at 901 N. Eighth Avenue, Dillon. Yoder’s report states that the fire department had already arrived, and the fire appeared to be contained to the inside of the house. Firefighters found Hood on a bed. He was deceased.
Sgt. James Hayes is the investigator on the case. SLED was called in to assist in the investigation.
Funeral services for Hood are being held Thursday (today) at 2 p.m. at Dillon First Baptist Church with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery.
