LEXINGTON-Funeral service for Olin C. Scott, Sr., 90, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Congaree Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. John White. A private entombment with military honors will be held later. Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Scott’s grandsons. The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Tri-County Hospice, 166 Stoneridge Dr., Ste 100, Columbia, SC 29210 or to the Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina, 2817 Ashland Rd., Columbia, SC 29210
Mr. Scott went to be with his Lord, Monday, June 27, 2011. Born in Lake View, SC, he was a son of the late Ellis Scott and Nellie Williamson Scott. He attended Furman University. Mr. Scott was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII. He was a member of Congaree Presbyterian Church. Mr. Scott was retired from the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller with 27 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy Norris Scott of West Columbia; daughters, Lisa S. Mallory (Danny) of Lexington, Carol S. Browder of Lexington and Tina S. Fry (Tony) of Little Mountain; sons, Olin Craig Scott, II of Irmo and N. Randolph Scott (Kathy) of Columbia; sisters, Liloise West of Moncks Corner and Jeanette Scott Empey of Texas; brothers, Hubert L. Scott of Florence and Ryan L. Scott of Columbia; eleven grandchildren, Corrinne Miller (Patrick), Olin C. Scott, III, Alexandra Scott, Dale Scott (Amanda), Brian Scott, Jay Scott, Daniel Mallory (Christa), Micah McCall (Matt), Drew Mallory, Heath Browder and Brandon Brock; also three great grandchildren.
