The baseball season is over and the final stats are in for two local teams.
The Latta Vikings finished the season with a 16-7 overall record, falling to Bamberg-Ehrhardt 7-1 in the lower state playoffs. Despite the playoff loss, Latta had a strong season and a strong team.
On the mound for the Vikings, J.R. Rich picked up six wins and Kyle Arrington had an ERA of 2.06.
At bat, Matthew Rogers led the Vikings with 35 hits and a .422 average. He scored 32 runs and hit eight doubles with 22 RBI.
Donnell Stanley was also impressive at bat, getting 33 hits, including eight doubles, for an average of .429. He scored 29 runs for the Vikings this season and had 20 RBI.
Josh Bowen hit six doubles and scored 31 runs for the Vikings, and Buck Terry scored 26 runs with 23 RBI.
Lake View’s Wild Gators managed to get a step further in the playoffs, claiming the Class A Lower State Championship before falling to Chesterfield in the state title series for a 26-3 overall record.
The Wild Gators racked up some impressive stats this season, starting with Hunter Walters, who picked up nine wins on the mound for Lake View. The sophomore had an ERA of 1.85 and struck out 59.
At bat, Walters hit a team-high five home runs with a total of 29 hits and a .377 average. He picked up a team-high 41 RBI.
Zack Allen was another big performer for Lake View. As a pitcher, he picked up six wins and struck out 50, earning an ERA of 1.71. At bat, the senior delivered 29 hits, nine doubles, and 30 runs, getting 24 RBI along the way. His batting average was .446.
Jordan Miller got 33 hits and 23 RBI in his senior season for a batting average of .434. He scored 36 runs for the Gators.
Senior Cody Cox contributed 37 hits and a team-high 38 runs. His batting average was .384 with 29 RBI.
Sophomore Chris Ford was another standout this season, getting 37 hits and 37 runs for the Wild Gators. He hit eight doubles and finished the season with a .416 average.
Senior A.J. Hyatt finished the season with 19 hits and a .403 average. He scored 25 runs for Lake View, while Steele Spivey contributed 23 runs in his senior season.
Final statistics for the Dillon Wildcats had not been reported at the time of this writing. The Wildcats made it to the District VI finals but were defeated by Bishop England, finishing the season with an 11-9 record.
