The Dillon Wildcats had a rough week with a 5-4 loss to South Florence on Thursday, a 10-7 loss to Aynor on Friday, and a 4-1 loss to Waccamaw on Tuesday.
Dillon kicked things off with a run in the first inning but the Bruins held them off for the next three innings while adding three runs in the second and two in the fourth for a 5-1 lead. The Wildcats managed to post two more runs in the fifth and a single run in the seventh for the 5-4 loss.
South Florence’s Josh Altman was the winning pitcher, going five innings and allowing only three runs, eight hits, and one walk, striking out two. The Bruins were led at bat by Garrett Bevill, 2-for-4, and Josh Pigatt, 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
The losing pitcher was Dillon’s Austin Huggins who went four innings, allowing five runs, seven hits, and three walks. Huggins struck out six Bruins.
Dillon’s leading hitters included Kwinton Smith, 3-for-4 with two doubles, and Taylor Langston, 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
On Friday, Dillon fell to Aynor 10-7 at home. Kwinton Smith took the loss for Dillon.
On Tuesday, March 29, the Wildcats traveled to Waccamaw and came back with a 1-4 loss to the Warriors.
Waccamaw’s winning pitcher was Dylan Lee, and Jamie Callahan was the losing pitcher for Dillon.
Dillon’s Tripp Wallace was 2-for-2 at the plate, with J.T. Baxley getting the only other hit for the Wildcats.
The losses leave the Wildcats’ regular season record at 5-4 with a 3-2 Region 8-2A record.
On Friday, April 1, the Wildcats will host Loris in their second meeting of the season, and on Tuesday, April 5, they’ll again play host to Mullins. Dillon previously defeated both teams earlier in the season. Both games start at 6:30 p.m.
