Mrs. Geraldine Weaver Ellis, 68, widow of John Wayne “Johnny” Ellis, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon.
Mrs. Ellis was born March 12, 1943 in Marion County, the daughter of the late Heyward Wright Weaver and the late Lottie Thomas Weaver. She retired from the Marion County Farm Bureau as an administrative assistant after more than 40 years of service. She was a 1961 graduate of Mullins High School. Mrs. Ellis was a member of Fork Presbyterian Church and attended Fork Baptist Church and Pyerian Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class.
Surviving Mrs. Ellis are: a son, John Wayne Ellis, II and his wife Karen of Dillon; a daughter, Marcie Ellis King and her husband Daryl of Fork; 2 grandchildren, Wesley Ellis and Emory Ellis; a brother, Gene Weaver and his wife Pat of Mullins; a special caregiver, Dottie Graves; a canine child, Brewster; and 3 canine grandchildren, Brutus, Tilly and Chase.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 at Fork Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
