The Latta Vikings downed the Kingstree Jaguars 14-1 in the Monday, March 14, baseball game in Kingstree.

Latta got an early lead with a run in the first inning and another in the second. Kingstree scored in the third, but three runs from the Vikings in the fourth and nine runs in the fifth gave Latta the victory.

Kyle Arrington was the winning pitcher with three innings pitched. Arrington allowed only one hit and one walk and struck out five players.

Latta’s leading hitters were Josh Bowen, 2-for-3 with three runs, a dobule, and five ; Donell Stanley, 2-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs, and three ; and Matt Rogers, 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Heading into Thursday night’s game against Timmonsville, the Vikings record was 5-2 and 2-0 in the Region 8A. They were scheduled to host Kingstree on Monday, March 21, and travel to Hemingway on Tuesday, March 22, before returning home on Friday, March 25, to face their county rival, Lake View.
