John C. Miller, 67, affectionately known as “Butch” to his family and friends, died Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Carolina’s Hospital. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Cooper Funeral Home in Dillon on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at 6:00 p.m. Reverend James S. Smith of East Dillon Baptist Church will conduct the service.
Mr. Miller was born February 18, 1944, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the oldest son of Rosemary Potts and John Ezekiel Miller. He was educated in the Tulsa school system and was graduated from the Technical School of Tulsa.
Surviving are his brother Michael Miller and wife Mary of Dillon; nephew Scott Miller and family of Queen Creek, Arizona; niece Chrissy Miller Snow and family of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and adopted family, Kelly, Kristen and Lauren Bridgers of Latta.
His brother Mike went to Oklahoma in June 2009 and brought back an ailing “Butch” to South Carolina where he could take care of him. Over the past nearly two years they had become great friends as well as reviving their close brotherly relationship. Being only a few miles apart made it possible for them to spend lots of quality time together. They would frequently talk on the telephone for an hour or two, sharing precious family memories and recalling the almost-forgotton stories of their childhood adventures and misadventures. These treasured moments were often accompanied with lots of laughter and some tears. Both brothers were especially thankful to have had this second chance with each other.
Memorials may be sent to East Dillon Baptist Church Building Fund, 702 S. Sixteenth Avenue, Dillon, SC 29536.
