The Dillon Christian Warriors earned a pair of wins last week against King’s Academy and Trinity Collegiate before falling to Byrnes Schools on Friday.
The week started on Tuesday, January 18, with a 52-36 win over the King’s Academy Lions.
Kin Melvin led the Warriors with 21 points, five rebounds, four assists, six of six free throws, three steals and three three-pointers out of four attempts. Parker Coleman added 14 points which included three successful three-pointers out of six attempts. Coleman also had eight total rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.
Neil Melvin added eight points and made eight rebounds, and Tyler Davis added five points and made five rebounds. Matthew Price contributed four points to the victory.
On Thursday, January 20, the Warriors hosted Trinity Collegiate in a make-up game from January 11. This time, Dillon Christian pulled out a narrow 57-52 win, improving their record to 3-7 overall and 3-5 in the region.
Friday saw the Warriors taste defeat once again as they fell to the Byrnes School 77-53.
The Byrnes Trojans, currently number one in SCISA Region 2-2A, dominated the first half with scores of 23-11 in the first quarter and 22-14 in the second. The Warriors narrowly claimed the third quarter 16-15 before the Trojans wrapped up the fourth 17-12.
The Byrnes Schools were led by Shaq Bacote with a game-high 29 points. Clay Dixon added 16 points and Justin Robinson added 10 to the win. Also scoring were Dyeshawn ones, 7; Kalin Brown, 5; Blake Sohnemann, 4; Jeremy McFadden, 3; James Hunt, 2; and Lawson Gregg, 1.
The Warriors were led by Kin Melvin with a team-high 16 points and Neil Melvin with 12. Parker Coleman added eight points, Tyler Davis made seven, and Will Brown scored six. Matthew Price also contributed four points for the Warriors.
The Warriors fall to 3-8 overall and 3-5 in SCISA Region 4-2A.
