Stanley “Stan” Boruta

Mr. Stanley “Stan” Arthur Boruta, age 86, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Agape Rehab of Conway following an illness. Born September 22, 1924 in Buffalo, NY he was the son of the late Mary Skromak Boruta. Mr. Boruta served his country with courage and honor in the U.S. Army. Upon leaving the Army Stan worked as a brick mason, was an avid fisherman, an exercise enthusiast and of the Baptist Faith. One of his proudest accomplishments during his career was that he played an integral role in the building of Front Street on the Georgetown Waterfront.

Survivors include his wife: Alberta “Bert” Gause Boruta of Loris; daughter: Sharon Boruta Lane and husband, Cecil of Calabash, NC; granddaughter: Summer Lane Coleman of Hamer, SC; great-granddaughter: Madison Coleman; step-sons: Bobby Long and wife, Cheryl of Longs, SC, Danny Long and wife, Jo Jo and Dale Long and wife, Gina all of Little River, SC, and Randy Long and wife, Karen of Kanab, Utah; two sisters: Jenny Pawlson of Lake View, NY and Irene Karanik of Hamburg, NY; four brother-in-laws: Tommy Gause and wife, Carole of Jacksonville, FL, Hilton Gause and wife, Helen of N.M.B., SC, Billy Gause of Loris and Troy Gause and wife, Toni of Loris; and two sister-in-laws: Faye Hancock of N.M.B., SC and Chris Boruta of NY. Mr. Boruta is also survived by many loving step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Boruta was predeceased by his mother; two brothers: Bill and Richard Boruta; and sister: Bertha Leitten; two brother-in-law’s: W.J. Gause and Donald Gause.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to everyone for all of there prayers and love during this difficult time, and a special acknowledgment to Bonnie and Joy of Agape Hospice for there tremendous support and devotion.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at Hardwick Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin immediately following visitation in the Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Reverend Tony Phillips officiating. Committal services will follow at Cherry Hill Cemetery.
