Latta Elementary School presented a Veterans Day Program on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium.  This special program, compiled and directed by Mrs. Becky Coleman, was performed by a select group of 4th grade students in honor of all veterans.  Latta High School’s JROTC began the program by presenting and posting the colors.
Musical selections performed by the 4th graders included “Allegiance Rap”, “Patriotic Medley”, “Those Who Served”, “The Heart of America”, and “Thankful for the U.S.A.”  Reading selections included Long May It Wave, written by Mrs. Lottie Raney, Veterans Day and In Flanders Field, written by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD, of the Canadian Army.  After the reading of In Flanders Field, “Taps” was performed by Mr. Richard Kopituk.
All veterans in attendance were recognized for their years of service.  The musical selection, “Those Who Served”, was dedicated to all veterans.
At the close of the program, our Veterans were escorted to the LES media center for refreshments, fellowship and remembrance of past service experiences.
Beautiful patriotic artwork, provided by 5th graders was on display for our veterans and guests to view.
Thanks to all of these 5th graders for their contribution to our performance.
LES is grateful to have such supportive students, staff, parents, and community members.
