Adia Jones attended the Junior National Young Leaders Conference from June 12, 2010 to June 17, 2010.
She experienced many historical events throughout the six-day program.
She went to Newseum, which is a place of daily news from around the world since 2008. The students also visited Harpers Ferry where abolitionist John Brown tried to stop slavery. They went to the Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies to learn about different wars around the world and how America has changed since the 1900’s.
The students studied and explored the following leadership traits:  goal setting, communication, respect, character, and problem solving. After having several leadership focus group meetings, Adia has the motto to “Never give up your goal and go for the prize.”
Adia Jones is a rising seventh grade student at Orangeburg Christian Academy located at 3769 Cameron Road in Orangeburg, S.C.
She is an honor student.
Adia is the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Leonard (Chellis) Jones, Orangeburg, S.C. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. W. Eugene Manning and Ms. Carolyn M. Manning of  Dillon.
She is the god-granddaughter of the late Mr. L.W. Harley of Dillon.
