Services for Bessie Morris Jackson were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemeter. Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jackson, 93, died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
Born in Dillon County, December 24, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Roxie Wilkerson Morris. She was a lifetime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, retired from the Dillon County School System after 33 years of service, and was the widow of the late James Walter Jackson.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry (Juanita), Wayne (Patty), Glenn (Lisa), and Richard, all of Dillon; daughter, Wanda Jackson of Florence; sister, Emmy McQueen; brother, Leon (Christine) Morris; special caregiver & granddaughter, Joanna; son-in-law, Floyd C. lee; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Jackson was predeceased by her daughters, Roxie L. Lee and Jenny Kaye Jackson; brothers, McKeithan, Herbert, Henry, Joe, and Johnny Morris; sisters, Hattie Jones, Martha George, Vencie Keith, and Carrie Meadows.
