Services for Major David Coleman, Jr., will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Dillon First Baptist Church with burial in Catfish Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Coleman, 80, died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at his residence.
Born in  Dillon County, March 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Major David Coleman, Sr. and Dessie Hayes Coleman.  He was a graduate of Campbell University in 1950 and a graduate of Clemson University in 1954, where he was a member of the Clemson Marching Band.  He was a Quality Control and Safety Engineer with Firestone Textiles and a retired Agriculture teacher and farmer.  Mr. Coleman was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher and choir member.
Survivors include his wife, Mercedes Coleman of the home; a son, Major David Coleman, III (Fran) of Hampstead, NC; two daughters, Melissa Lennon (Wayland) of Fairmont, NC, and Monica Haselden (Jimmy) of Latta; grandchildren, Caroline and Tyler Lennon, Andrew and Luke Haselden; step-grandson, Chad Clonch (Scarlett) of Virginia Beach, VA, and their children, Brock and Violett; brother, Dan L. Coleman of Latta; and sister, Mary Alice Johnson of Fayetteville, NC.
Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy and Ray Coleman.
