LAKE VIEW – Emily C. O’Boyle died April 29, 2010, after a long battle with cancer. Mrs. O’Boyle died at the home of her daughter in Lake View. She was with her four surviving children and several of her grandchildren at the time of her death.

A funeral service was held Sunday, May 2, 2010, at 4 p.m. at Fork Presbyterian Church, Fork, SC. Burial followed in Lake View Perpetual Cemetery directed by Cook Funeral Home of Lake View. The family received friends, Saturday, May 1, 2010, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the family home, 308 S. Main Street.

Mrs. O’Boyle was born July 31, 1929, in Lake View, SC, the daughter of the late Sadie M. and Albert Eugene Carmichael and widow of Lt. Col. Peter A. O’Boyle. As an Army wife, she lived all over the world and United States as she raised their five children. After her husband’s retirement she lived many years in Columbia where she worked in real estate.

Emily moved to Little River about 10 years ago, fulfilling a long-time dream of living at the beach. She lived a wonderful life marked by an indomitable spirit and a deep love for her children and many friends, who loved her deeply in return.

Survivors include her children, Peter (Sylvia) of Columbia, Kathy (James) of Lake View, Henry of Little River and Ann (William) of Bowling Green, KY; seven grandchildren; brother, A.E. “Gene” Carmichael of Lake View and many close friends. She was predeceased by a son, Eugene “Michael.” In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Fork Presbyterian Church, Fork, SC, or the American Cancer Society .
