A few years ago, Comptroller Richard Eckstrom ran a guest editorial called “Questions For Candidates.” With local primary elections coming up in June, some have asked that we reprint this editorial again.
Dear Editor:
On October 8, 2015, around 3:00 a.m., my son, Robert Richardson got into a bad car accident in the Dillon County area.
The fire service is a noble calling whether one is a volunteer or chooses it for a profession. It’s a tremendous responsibility to protect the life and property of those one serves.
Not many days ago, I was privileged to meet and to have a brief conversation with a woman who was a personal friend of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
One of the statements that I often hear from people who were brought up in Dillon and moved away (due to the lack of employment or career opportunities, cultural or entertainment establishments, and other perks and desirables) is “there is nothing in Dillon for me.”
Each year about this time, we ask that you make a New Year’s resolution—write a least one letter to the editor this year.
We want to hear from you about issues important to Dillon County and all of our municipalities—and there are many issues about which you can express an opinion.
Looking back at 2015, there was an effort by the City of Dillon Police Department worthy of being noted.
