I would like to take this opportunity to commend a fellow writer, Bishop Michael Goings for his informative article on one of Dillon’s finest citizens who passed away way too soon in life.
Transparency. I use this word every time I am in a meeting with a South Carolina Senator or House member here in Columbia. I can’t avoid it.
Once upon a time when I was a cocky, conceited, and overconfident athlete in high school, I learned a valuable lesson that would last me a lifetime.

Your letter to The Dillon Herald’s editor published on Tuesday, February 15, contained glaring errors resulting from either misinformation or no information at all.

Usually when I attend county council meetings, there may be only one or two others attending. However, at this past January meeting the council room was crammed (even had several standees) with lawyers and representatives of the historical society.
I know there are those who will read this and will ask themselves, why is there still a need for a Black History Month after all these years of advancement for African Americans?
