Community newspapers add immense value to the communities they serve.
Free speech is a right protected by the Constitution! A person can freely express a belief or opinion.
Our history is important. We all have a personal history that shows the what and why of who we are as people.
We can all afford to better ourselves in some way, and this time each year many us resolve to do so – whether it’s adopting a healthier lifestyle, working a little harder toward a goal, or learning a new skill.
Dear Editor:
Anyone who knows me, knows I am a huge fan of JROTC. I can’t say enough about this program and the impact it’s having on our youth, three of which are mine.
“Everything in this newspaper is important to someone.”
It’s become something of a mantra for me, in recent years.
Weekly community newspapers are eclectic, to say the least.
An in-depth newspaper investigation revealed that a state-operated home for aged military veterans was providing sub-standard care and that taxpayer money that was to go to improve the home was spent elsewhere. The result was the replacement of the state’s veterans secretary and numerous corrections at the home.
The American Legion plays a special role in the lives of military veterans. It’s a source of fellowship, advocacy, healing, and support, as well as a venue through which its members give back to their communities.
