Keep Halloween Decorating Safe By Following NFPA Tips

Many hallmarks of Halloween – lit jack-o-lanterns, candle decorations and billowing costumes – all pose fire safety hazards. As kids and families select costumes and decorate their homes for the season, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) encourages everyone to implement simple safety precautions to ensure that this year’s Halloween remains fun and fire-free.

Master Sergeant Retires

On October 1, 2010 at 3:00 p.m., a retirement ceremony was held in honor of Master Sergeant Edward D. McNeil at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. Master Sergeant McNeil, a Dillon native, was honored for 21 years of distinguished service.

McDonald’s Robbed

An armed robbery occurred at the McDonald’s on Highway 38 West on October 17th.
According to Captain Cliff Arnette, shortly after midnight, two black males, who were armed and had on hoodies and disguises, entered the store and demanded all of the money.

Man Charged In Kidnapping

The young man, who is listed as the victim in Mayor Pro-Tem Randolph Gurley’s attempted murder charge, was arrested on October 7th for kidnapping, according to the Dillon County Detention Center.
