I never cease to be amazed at some of the things that go on in Dillon County.
Admin 2Navy Lt. Shelley Conyers, whose husband, Andre, is the son of Denise Conyers of Dillon, S. C. and Junior Blakley, of Dillon, and fellow Sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65) formed a Coalition of Sailors Against Destructive Decisions (CSADD) committee.
Admin 2The South Carolina Retail Association (SCRA) (http://www.scretail.org/) has announced that the 12th annual Sales Tax Holiday will run from Friday, Aug. 3 at 12:01 a.m. through Sunday, Aug. 5 at 11:59 p.m.
Admin 2The trial of Robert Lee Nelson, Jr., who was charged in the December 2009 robberies and deaths of Walter and Mary Swaner, ended on Friday evening with the jury deadlocked on the two murder charges, but finding Nelson guilty of burglary first degree, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and two armed robbery charges.
Admin 2South Carolina’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased to 9.4 percent in June from 9.1 percent in May. This is the second consecutive rise in the rate, but is well below the June 2011 rate of 10.5 percent.
