A bond reconsideration was held on a man charged with an attempted murder in Latta in General Sessions Court last week in front of Judge Paul Burch.
Levonda Jermaine Page is charged with attempted murder  in a May 9, 2014 shooting in Latta. A 51-year-old man was found in the roadway on Clara Street in Latta with multiple gunshot wounds. Page was arrested on June 5, 2014.
Attorney Nathan Scales said that Page had significant ties to the community. He said Page had been incarcerated for 371 days at the time of the hearing and had a $60,000 bond. Scales said Page’s trial was set for the week of August 10th and asked for a release on a PR (personal recognizance) bond.
Assistant Solicitor Lee Hayes said his main concern about the situation was that someone might get hurt. He asked for restrictions such as house arrest.
The victim, who was present at the proceeding, said that he didn’t want anything to happen. He said Latta was a small town,  and he had concern for him and his family.
Page said he hadn’t shot anyone.
Judge Burch set a $25,000 PR bond.
Page is under house arrest from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. Judge Burch said if he was caught away from his house he would be put back into jail without further hearing. He is to have no contact with the victim or his family, and he must stay in touch with his attorney.
