Mrs. Mary Lucille Suggs Lewis, 90, died Sunday, March 22, 2015 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence after an illness.
Mrs. Lewis, a daughter of the late Sam and Lillie Suggs, was born July 27, 1924 in Marion County and was reared in Horry County. She was a 1942 graduate of Floyds High School. Mrs. Lewis was retired from B.C. Moores. She was a member of the Daughters of America, where she served as State Councilor. Mrs. Lewis loved flowers, gardening and camping. She was a member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class. Mrs. Lewis had been a resident at Commander Nursing Home in Florence for the past nine years.
Mrs. Lewis was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, L.B. Lewis; a brother, J.C. Suggs and a sister, Eunice McDaniels.
Surviving are: her children: John Wayne (Gloria) Lewis of Greer, Louis B. “Bug” (Janice) Lewis, Jr. of Timmonsville and Libby Lewis Barfield of Mullins; 3 Grandchildren: Shad, Crystal and Cheryl; and 8 Great Grandchildren.
Services were held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 25, at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home, with Rev. Chadwick Ivester officiating. Burial will follow in Devotion Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation was held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
