Betty Doris Shelley died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at McLeod Medical Center Dillon.
She was born January 5, 1929 in Dillon County the daughter of Starr Coleman Shelley and Essie Clarke Shelley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Catfish Creek Baptist Church with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Kannaday Funeral Home in Latta is assisting the family.
Betty Doris attended Latta Schools. She was a lifelong member of Catfish Creek Baptist Church where she taught the Beginner Sunday School Class for many years. She was also a member of the Annie Dew Sunday School Class.
Betty Doris was a member of the Dogwood Garden Club and the Homemakers Club. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed the outdoors and her flowers. She loved her family and took great pride in her nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Jean and Carroll Allen of Latta, sister-in-law Emily Shelley of Latta, nieces and nephews, Frances Yarborough of Lake View, Libby Stanfield of Little River, Justin McKenzie and wife Sheila of Lake View, Claire Sellers and husband Wallace of Mullins, Marsha Johnson of Latta, Raymond Shelley of Darlington, Keith Allen and wife Libby of Latta, Ione Allen of Latta and many great nieces and nephews. Betty Doris was predeceased by her parents, brother Starr Shelley Jr., sister and brother-in-law Christine and Rembert McKenzie and nephew C. Glenn Allen Jr.
The family wishes to thank Hollie Scarborough and Shirley Leonard for their loving care of Betty Doris.
