The Pee Dee District Conference of the United Daughters of the Confederacy was held on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at The Surf Club at North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Fort Randall Chapter #2686 was the hostess chapter. Five members of the Ann Fulmore Harllee Chapter #1740 attended this Conference.
Mrs. Linda Wolfe, Pee Dee District Director, warmly welcomed the attendees and presided over this session. General and Division officers were recognized, and chapter presidents gave their reports. Mrs. Ann P. Shugart, Division President addressed the groups and told of her plans for the next two years. Two new chapters in South Carolina have recently been chartered, one is Spartanburg and the other in Hartsville. This was exciting to hear!
In a very impressive Memorial Service, Marie Stratton Rogers Stubbs Robbins from the Ann Fulmore Harllee Chapter was remembered. President Mattie W. Strickland spoke of Marie’s membership of fifty-three years and of her dedication to this Chapter.
It was reported that 49 daughters had attended the very informative Conference. Next year the Conway Chapter will serve as hostess.
Following the business session, a beautiful and delicious salad lunch was served, and door prizes were presented. Those attending from the Dillon chapter were Joyce Digges, Phyllis Hagan, Chris Harris, Fay Sloan, and Mattie Strickland.
