Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators fell by one point, 59-58, to the visiting Green Sea Floyds Trojans on Tuesday in girls varsity basketball action.

The Lady Gators took an 18-12 lead over the Trojans in the first quarter and pulled further ahead with a 20-9 second period to lead 38-21 at the half. But Green Sea rallied 22-10 in the third quarter to close the gap to 48-43, and a 16-10 fourth quarter allowed the Trojans to edge the Gators for the 59-58 win.

Olivia McDaniel earned a team-high 25 points to lead the Lady Gators in the effort, and Na’Kedra Page added 17 points for Lake View. Jasmine Ford earned 10 points; Kayla Page, 3; Diayah Williams, 3.

Tamara Jackson earned a game-high 30 points to lead the Trojans in the win. Quadasia Gillard added 12 points; Kensenya Jackson, 8; Paige McDaniels, 5; Courtnee Faulk, 2; and Brianna Holmes, 2.

Lake View slips to 8-8 overall and 2-7 in Region 8-A while Green Sea Floyds improves to 9-8 overall and 3-6 in the region. Latta, Carvers Bay, and Hemingway lead the region, with Green Sea in fourth place.

The Class A girls basketball playoffs are set to begin on Monday, February 16, with the top two teams from each region hosting.

UPDATE: Carvers Bay wrapped up the Region 8-A title on Thursday night with a 61-33 win over Lake View. Carvers Bay will host Region 7-A’s fourth place team in the first round of the Class A girls playoffs.
