Dillon’s Lady Wildcats picked up a win over Marion’s Lady Swamp Foxes on Friday night in girls varsity basketball action.

Dillon took a 27-11 lead in the first quarter and kept control of the game throughout, carrying a 43-17 lead into halftime and outscoring Marion 32-14 in the second half for a 75-31 win.

Khamele Manning scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Wildcats and Tejah Breeden added 15 points with 14 rebou nds in the win. Shar’Asia Samuel added 10 points for the Wildcats and Da’Kerhia Samuel scored eight with 11 rebounds. Kendra McLeod earned 7; Jelissa Fentzlaff, 7; Cali McRae, 3; Adriana McCollum, 2; and Shimya Sowells, 1.

Marion was led by Zakiya Johnson with a team-high 12 points. Evans scored 6; Morrisey, 5; Daniels, 4; Vereen, 2; and Johnson, 2.

Dillon improved to 18-3 overall and 7-1 in Region 8-2A, with their only conference loss coming from Mullins. Marion slips to 4-4 in the region, while Mullins is tied with Dillon at 7-1.

The Lady Wildcats will be at home for the last week of region action. Dillon was scheduled to host Loris on Monday night, and will host Waccamaw on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.

The Class AA girls basketball playoffs are set to begin on Tuesday, February 17, with the top two teams hosting the first round of the tournament.
