Have you ever wondered how do I get my first library card, and what do I need get one. Well we have your answer to this question and many more.
Library Cards
A Dillon County Library card is free to all who live, work or attend school in the county. A card may be obtained at any library in the county or on the bookmobile upon verification of address and name. A child must be six years of age to obtain a card. You can also use the cards in Darlington, Georgetown, Marion, Marlboro, and Sumter Counties. You must have your library each time you come to the library to get on the computer or check out books. Card holders are responsible for all material out on their cards. Replacement cards are one dollar.
Borrowing Guidelines
The loan period for audio, books, and older magazines are 21 days. New magazines and DVD’s are 3 days. Most library items may be renewed twice. You may renew the items in person or by phone. Renewals are not available if the material has a reserve on it. You may return your material to any library in the Dillon County Library System or in our drop box.
If you are late on the material you will accrue a .5 cents per day fine. If you lose or damage the item you will be charged the full price of the book. You will not be allowed to check out if you have a fine more than 5.00 dollars. If you want a book that is out you can put a reserve on the book.
Public Access Computers
Public access to the internet is the most popular service that is offered at the library. It is allow throughout the whole system. We offer Microsoft Office, Educational games, and internet.
Library patrons must sign a user’s agreement before using the public computers. Parental or guardian permission must be given for those that are under the age of 18 to use the internet. Children under the age of 14 will have to have a parent with them at all times while using the internet. In general a session will last 1 hour.
Other Service Offered
Public faxing (1.00 per page long distance and local and 800 numbers free, and to receive it is .25 cents per page), Microfilm reader/printer, bookmobile services, reference assistance, tax forms (received in January of each year), Magazines, Tax forms, newspapers, genealogy, children and youth services, books on tape, computer classes, DVD’s, best sellers, interlibrary loans, web site, online catalog, and much more
