A Dillon man has been charged in the death of his 92-year-old grandfather, whose body was found on Pittman Lane in Dillon on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as 92-year-old Clyde H. Monahan, Sr. of Dillon County, according to Coroner Donnie Grimsley. Grimsley said the body is being sent for autopsy.
On Monday, the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office charged Jimmy F. Watson, age 27, of Dillon, with murder, possession of a weapon during violent crime, armed robbery and grand larceny in the death of Monahan, said Arnette. Watson is currently in custody at the Dillon County Detention Center. According to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, “officers with Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and Dillon County EMS responded to a call on Pittman Lane in Dillon in reference to a body being located.”
“According to an incident report by Deputy Danielle Williams, officers arrived on the scene to find a male victim deceased,” said Arnette.
The case is being investigated by the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office.
The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by SLED Crime Scene and Dillon Police Department, Arnette said.
In addition to Captain Cliff Arnette, officers responding to or assisting in the investigation are Deputies Danielle Williams, Glenn Coates, Ricky Day, Jimmy Jackson, Investigator Reggie Thompson, Chief Deputy Larry Abraham, and Sheriff Major Hulon.
