Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators swept Hemingway and Latta in varsity volleyball action this week.
The Lady Gators were on the road on Thursday, September 25, to face Hemingway, sweeping the Lady Tigers 3-0 with set scores of 25-15, 25-12, and 25-9.
Kayla Page made 10 aces and eight kills in the win, and Savanna Williamson made 24 assists and seven aces to help lead the Lady Gators. Shakyra Page added 14 kills; Na’Kedra Page made 10 kills; and Jasmine Ford made six kills and six aces for Lake View.
Elsewhere on Thursday, Latta’s Lady Vikings traveled to Carver’s Bay and fell 3-2 to the Lady Bears. Latta won the first set 25-16 but Carver’s Bay rallied for a 26-24 score in game two. Latta took the third set 25-23, but the Bears took game four 25-23 and edged Latta 15-13 in the fifth set to seal the win.
Latta was led by Dori Webster, Genesis Anderson, and Brandy Williams, who each made four aces. Williams also made five digs, and Jada Morrison made five kills with Maggie Sloan adding 13 assists for the Lady Vikings in the effort.
On Tuesday, September 30, Lake View hosted Latta for a 3-0 win over the Lady Vikings with set scores of 25-11, 25-13, and 25-21.
Lake View’s Ally Spivey made four aces with 19 service points in the win and Jasmine Ford added two aces. Savanna Williamson made 23 assists and three kills for Lake View, and Kyra Parker made two assists and nine kills. Kayla Page added 13 kills; Na’Kedra Page made eight; and Logan Spivey added four.
Jada Morrison led Latta with three kills and one ace, and Brooke Carter added one ace and one assist. Maggie Sloan and Madison Owens also each added an assist in the effort, and Brandy Williams made five digs with Genesis Anderson making three tips.
Lake View improved to 9-3 overall and 6-1 in Region 8-A, while Latta slipped to 7-7 overall and 4-3 in the region.
The Lady Gators were scheduled to host South Columbus on Wednesday night and will host Carvers Bay tonight at 6:30 p.m. On Monday, Lake View will host Dillon at 6:00 p.m., and next Wednesday, October 8, the Gators will host South Robeson at 5:30 p.m.
Latta was scheduled to travel to Dillon on Wednesday and will host Green Sea Floyds for senior night on Tuesday, October 7, at 5:30 p.m. Latta will close out the regular season at Marlboro on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
