To The Editor:
On May 20, 2014, Dillon Historic School Advocacy (DHSA) met with the Dillon County Board of Education to ask specific questions about this Board’s barring all access to the auditorium of former J.V. Martin Junior High School.
Before DHSA left that meeting, Chairman Schafer invited the members to submit any other questions which the Board would answer.
In response, I would like to voice my personal concerns by asking the Board of Education two relevant questions:
Why would Dillon County Board of Education deny DHSA members access to the auditorium allowing them time to complete the removal of debris they have collected, bagged, and stacked on the stage IF their clean-up work were scheduled on the very same day and at the very same time that Dillon School District 4 maintenance workers will more than likely be granted access to the same area for removing the once beautiful but now ruined Steinway & Sons piano?
Furthermore, has this badly damaged piano already been removed from the auditorium’s stage even after the public notice appeared in The Dillon Herald on May 6, 2014 barring all public access to the building?
Respecting the preservation of Dillon’s cultural heritage,
