The Latta Town Council reinstated Crystal Moore as police chief in a special meeting on Friday night at the Latta Community Center in front of a packed house.
Council member Lutherine Williams made the motion to reinstate Moore seconded by Councilman Jarett Taylor. The vote was unanimous with the six members present; Mayor Earl Bullard was not in attendance. Moore was sworn in immediately by Judge Janette Dupree.
The council voted to send a letter to Freddie Davis, who Mayor Earl Bullard had hired on June 17th as Police Chief, telling him his services were no longer needed and that they don’t feel his contract was legal for various reasons which are outlined in the letter.
The council took various other actions at Friday’s meeting. A full report will be in The Dillon Herald next week.
