Dillon’s Lady Wildcats and both Lake View teams earned wins on Wednesday night to advance to the lower state championship games on Friday.

In Class 2A softball, Dillon’s Lady Wildcats earned a 14-4 win over Barnwell to advance to the lower state championship. Shaquailla German earned the win on the mound, striking out five and allowing five hits with five walks. Tara Grimsley had four hits, including two doubles, and picke dup three runners, while Shayna Covington had three hits in the win.

Dillon will travel to face Waccamaw this Friday at 5:30 p.m. Dillon will have to win twice to claim the lower state title. The Lady Wildcats defeated Waccamaw twice in the regular season, 8-2 and 12-2, but fell 8-5 to the Warriors in the first round of the lower state playoffs.

Dillon faced the same scenario in the 2013 playoffs, falling to Waccamaw in the first round and battilng back to face the Warriors for the lower state title. Waccamaw finished as state runner up in 2013, falling to Crescent in the state title series.

In Class 2A baseball, Wade Hampton defeated Bishop England 7-2 to earn a shot at Loris for the lower state title on Friday. In the upper state, Ninety-Six will host Central on Friday.

In Class A softball, Lake View’s Lady Gators earned a 4-3 walk off win over Latta’s Lady Vikings with Ashley Rogers hitting a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh for the win. Marissa Tyndall earned the win on the mound, allowing four hits while striking out three, and Anna Rogers took the loss, allowing nine hits with three outs.

Lake View advanced to the lower state championship where they will face defending champ East Clarendon for the lower state title. Last spring, East Clarendon earned a 1-0 win over Latta to advance to the state series, where they defeated Dixie in the best of three state series.

In the upper state bracket, Dixie earned a 10-0 win over McBee in the first round of the upper state playoffs and defeated Lewisville 13-2 to advance to the championship game. Lewisville edged Fox Creek 3-2 on Wednesday to earn a shot at the title.

In Class A baseball, Lake View earned a 4-3 walk off win over Johnsonville in the ninth inning to advance to the lower state title match. Josh Price doubled to score Weston Rogers from second to give the Gators the win. Price also earned the win in relief, pitching five innings for three hits, one walk, and one out. Weston Rogers started on the mound, pitching four innings for one hit, three runs, and two outs. Carson Rogers, Hunter Stevens, Duane Nichols, and Weston Rogers also doubled in the win.

Lake View will advance to face Latta for the lower state title on Friday at 6:00 p.m. The Vikings defeated Lake View 6-5 on Monday in eight innings, earning the winning run after Latta’s Avery Berry reached on an error. The local rivals also faced off for the lower state title in 2013, with Latta advancing to the state series.

In the upper state, defending champ St. Joseph’s earned a 10-0 win over Dixie and a 4-0 win over Fox Creek to advance to the upper state championship. They will host the Lewisville/Fox Creek winner on Friday.
