The Tomato Contest Planning meeting held on March 6th at the Clemson Extension office was directed by Tom Rowland. The growers present decided to continue with the deadline of April 15th for sign-up. The tomato judging is scheduled for June 24th and the rules are as follows: 1.) Four (4) plants are to be judged and grower decides on plants. 2.) Tomatoes will be judged on production (growth of plant and fruiting), and free of insect and diseases. 3.) Cherry type tomato will not qualify to be judged.
All interested tomato growers should contact Mr. Rowland (774-2007) or stop by the Extension office to sign-up. The 1st place winner will receive the James (Jr.) Berry Award in honor of Mr. Berry and his contribution to the contest.
