Dillon’s Lady Wildcats defeated Lake Marion 78-22 on Thursday night and Lake City 89-49 on Saturday to advance to round three of the Class AA girls varsity basketball playoffs.
In Thursday’s first-round playoff game, the Wildcats hosted the Lake Marion Gators for a 78-22 win.
Tyshanna Lester led the Lady Wildcats with a game-high 27 points, and Yolanda Campbell added 13 points with nine rebounds in the win. Khamele Manning and Da”Kerhia Samuel each added seven points, with Brianna Lee and Kendra McLeod each earning five. Ra’Sheena Colvin and Cali McRae each earned three points, and Tejah Breeden added two, with Na’Kedra Page earning one point in the win.
Lake Marion was led by Nigeeba Grant with six points and Tatiayana Cohen with five. Jaquante Oliver added 4; Quintella Wilson, 3; LaQuyin Smalls, 2; and Carmen Robinson, 2.
Lake Marion finished the season with a 10-14 record.
On Saturday, Dillon hosted Lake City for an 89-49 win over the Lady Panthers in the second round of playoffs.
Dillon took an 18-12 lead over the Panthers in the first quarter and went 23-19 in the second to lead 41-31 at the half. The Wildcats outscored Lake City 16-5 in the third and 32-13 in the fourth to seal the win.
Tyshanna Lester led the Wildcats with a game-high 35 points and made 10 steals in the win. Yolanda Campbell added 15 points and Da’Kerhia Samuel earned 10 with Khamele Manning scoring nine and Tejah Breeden adding seven. Brianna Lee earned six points and Na’Kedra Page and Cali McRae both added two with Shar’Asia Samuel contributing one point for Dillon.
Shaunice Fulmore led Lake City with a team-high 18 points and Fredricka Wilson added 10 in the effort. Marie McClary scored six and Naiya Godwin and Jadia Behlin both earned five with Makayla Barr adding three and Jasmain Singletary scoring two.
The Panthers finished the season at 16-8 while Dillon improved to 25-0.
The Wildcats will host Kingstree tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the third round of the Class AA girls playoffs. The winner of the game will advance to the lower state playoffs on Saturday, March 1.
The Lady Jaguars are 26-3 this season and picked up a 53-25 win over Waccamaw in the first round of playoffs and a 54-41 win over Mullins in the second. Kingstree’s Dashanique Peterson led the Jaguars over the Auctioneers, scoring a game-high 14 points, 18 rebounds, and 14 blocks in the win. Brittany Williams added 13 points with 10 assists and 10 steals for Kingstree.
Elsewhere in the second round of playoffs, Battery Creek defeated Calhoun County 77-72 to advance and Bishop England defeated Academic Magnet 70-37. Bishop England will host Battery Creek tonight for a shot at the lower state title.
In the upper state, Newberry will host Pendleton and Andrew Jackson will host Keenan to determine the competitors for the upper state title.
