The Hannah-Pamplico Raiders remained undefeated in region play as they took down Latta’s Lady Vikings 54-48 in Latta on Tuesday night in girls varsity basketball action.
Latta took a 17-13 lead in the first quarter, but the Lady Raiders went 14-9 in the second to take a one-point lead at 27-26 at the half. Hannah-Pamplico widened the gap in the third, outscoring Latta 12-7, and both teams added 15 points in the fourth to allow the Raiders to retain the win.
Hannah-Pamplico’s Emily Plott scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Raiders in the win, and Talilia Murphy and Sharane Flemming each added 10 points for the Raiders. Jazhria Eaddy scored 9; Logan Jordan, 6; Tyshera Eaddy, 2; and Kadgsia Self, 2.
Maya Wright scored 14 points to lead Latta in the effort, and TaKeria Legette added 11 for the Lady Vikings. Brittany Burgess scored eight, Jessica Evans added seven, Mallory Townsend earned five, and Margaret Desser added two, with Madelia Johnson contributing one point for Latta.
The Lady Vikings fall to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in Region 8-A, while Hannah-Pamplico improved to 3-9 overall and but remained undefeated at 3-0 in the region. The Johnsonville Flashes, who also hold a 3-0 record in the region, will host the Raiders this Friday.
Latta will travel to Lake View this Friday night to take on their local and regional rivals, the Lady Wild Gators. Both teams were ranked in the top 10 in the state earlier this season, with Latta climbing as high as fourth place before the start of region play. Lake View now holds a 7-5 record overall but the Gators are only 1-2 in the region.
