Dillon’s Lady Wildcats rose to second place in the state in the latest South Carolina basketball coaches poll as they opened region play at home on Tuesday night with an 87-20 win over Aynor.

The Lady Wildcats took a commanding 30-3 lead in the first quarter and outpaced the Blue Jackets the rest of the way, leading 41-10 at the half, shutting out Aynor 25-0 in the third, and capping the win with a 21-10 fourth quarter.

Tyshanna Lester led the Wildcats with a game-high 25 points with 10 steals, and Yolanda Campbell scored 12 with 15 rebounds in the win. Khamele Manning added 11 points; Jelissa Fentzlaff scored 10; Da’Kerhia Samuel, 9; Kendra McLeod, 7; Brianna Lee, 6; Cali McCrea, 3; and Rasheena Colvin and Shar’asia Samuel each added two.

Annie Kroger led Aynor with a team-high nine points, with Ayawana Deas adding 5, Kayla Gerreld earning three, and Caprisha Nash adding two.

The Lady Wildcats remained undefeated as they improved to 14-0 overall and opened region play with a 1-0 record.

Dillon will travel to Mullins on Friday, January 17, and will be at home next week to host Marion on Tuesday, January 21, and Loris on Friday, January 24. All game times start at 6:00 p.m. so make plans to attend to support our local teams!
