Mrs. Maxine Evans died Friday, November 15, 2013 in her home in Fairmont, NC after an illness.
Mrs. Maxine was born in Robeson County, the daughter of the late Buster and Geneva Atkinson Leggett. She was the owner and operator of Evans Day Care in Fairmont, which she ran for many years. She was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church, where she served as the head of the Church Flower Committee.
Funeral service was Monday, November 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Oakdale Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Evans Family Cemetery. The family received friends on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her daughters, Donna Grainger (Hal) of Fairmont, Amy Martini (Jeff) of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Summer Evans of Raleigh; brother, Gerald Leggett of Lumberton; sisters, Cathy Martin, Alice Worshan, Edna Reynolds, and Janice Nance; special sister, Lida Oliver; grandchildren, Shannon Grainger (April) of Fairmont, Scott Grainger (Jamie) of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Billie Grainger of Fairmont, NC, Babbette Yates of Charleston, SC, C.C. Lynch of Coward, SC, and Makayla Martini of North Myrtle Beach, SC; and 15 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her husband, Blanco Evans and her son, Anthony Evans.
