The Lake View All Stars competed in the 8U Machine Pitch All Star Tournament held Friday, June 21 through Tuesday, June 25 in Florence.
On Friday night, the Lake View boys faced Scranton and picked up a 16-10 win. Lake View had 20 hits in the win with Lane Cardwell going 2-for-3 with a home run; Colton Caulder going 3-for-3 with a home run; and Bradley Tarte going 3-for-3 with a home run. Shiquan Jones and Slate Lewis also each went 3-for-3.
On Saturday, Lake View took a 17-4 loss from Francis Marion. Lake View was led at bat by Kason Herlong, who went 2-for-2. Bradley Tarte, Storm Garris, Luke Price, and Ja’von Wheeler each went 1-for-2, and Shaheed Dawkins and Lane Cardwell each went 1-for-3.
On Monday, Lake View fell 10-4 to Greenwood and were eliminated from the tournament. Shiquan Jones led at bat, going 3-for-3. Tyler James, Bradley Tarte, Kason Herlong, Luke Price, and Ja’Von Wheeler each went 1-for-2 and Lane Cardwell was 1-for-3.
Shiquan Jones had a 1.000 batting average for the tournament; Shaheed Dawkins, .222; Lane Cardwell, .444; Colton Caulder, .285; Tyler James, .428; Slate Lewis, .571; Bradley Tarte, .714; Storm Garris, .142; Luke Price, .500; and Ja’von Wheeler, .333.
Colton led the tournament totals in the field, making 10 put outs for Lake view. Tyler James made seven put outs, two assists; Lane Cardwell made four put outs, seven assists; Shaheed Dawkins made one put out; Shiquan Jones made one put out; Bradley Tarte made two put outs and four assists; Kason Herlong made four put outs; and Luke Price made one put out.
Delmae faced Francis Marion for an 18-3 win and proceeded to claim the tournament championship on Tuesday. Greenwood finished as runner-up.
The Dillon All Stars also competed in the Coach Pitch tournament in Florence. Lake City claimed the championship title in that tournament and Maple Park finished as runner-up.
