Latta’s Lady Vikings defeated the Hannah-Pamplico Raiders 10-2 on Tuesday night in Pamplico.
The Lady Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added another run in the third to lead 2-0. The Lady Raiders scored in the bottom of the fourth, but Latta responded with two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings to lead 6-1. The Raiders scored again in the bottom of the inning, but the Vikings added four runs in the top of the seventh for the 10-2 win.
Anna Rogers earned the win on the mound, pitching all seven innings for four hits, 11 outs, two earned runs, and five walks.
Lyndsey Prosser took the loss, pitching all seven innings for the Riaders for 13 hits, eight earned runs, seven walks, four outs, and two hit by pitch.
Raven Baxley led Latta at bat, going 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs, and Cameron Sawyer went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs. Allison Moody went 1-for-5 but hit a triple and scored three runs for the Vikings. Latta had 13 hits and three errors in the win.
Jessi Sims led the Raiders at bat, going 2-for-3 with a RBI, and T. Evans went 1-for-4. The Lady Raiders had four hits and two errors.
Latta improves to 7-6 overall and 3-1 in Region 8A. Hannah-Pamplico slips to 3-5 overall and 1-3 in the region. In the most recent poll of the Class A South Carolina softball coaches, Latta was ranked seventh in the state with Lake View in fourth. Lewisville, East Clarendon, and Dixie rounded out the top three.
The Lady Vikings will host Lake View tonight at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Gators have performed well overall this season for a 9-4 record, but Lake View has lost all three conference games they’ve played in the very competitive Region 8A. Make plans to attend to support our local teams!
