ICE Recycling LLC, a total recycling company serving industrial plants, has expanded its operations in Florence County. The $1.05 million investment is expected to generate 15 new jobs.
“We are excited about expanding our capabilities and aggressively growing our customer base. This new facility will nearly double the amount of overall space under roof for additional processing equipment and growth of operations. Lake City, Florence County and the state of South Carolina have provided us with an excellent business environment and the talented workforce we employ today. We appreciate all the support we’ve received from state and local officials,” said owners Butch Crawford and Larry T. Gay Jr.
ICE Recycling has purchased an existing facility in Lake City to expand its recycling operations. The company has already started operations at the new 200,000-square-foot facility, which is located at 847 West Main Street. This expansion will allow the company to have more capacity for recyclables and free up processing space at its location at 431 Cedar Street.
“We know we are on the right track with our economic development efforts when one of our existing businesses chooses to grow here in the Palmetto State. We celebrate ICE Recycling’s decision to invest $1.05 million and create 15 new jobs in Lake City. We will continue to work to strengthen South Carolina’s business-friendly climate,” said Gov. Nikki Haley.
Commerce has recruited more than $790 million in capital investment and more than 1,500 new jobs in the recycling-related sector since January 2011.
“South Carolina’s recycling sector continues to grow and create jobs in communities across the state. Today’s announcement by ICE Recycling is the latest example of that fact. Every one of these jobs will have a positive impact in Florence County,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
ICE Recycling specializes in on-site “Total Recycling and Compactor Elimination” for industrial facilities. ICE Recycling pre-sorts, separates and diverts recyclable landfill waste, thereby eliminating associated disposal fees.
“We are excited that this locally owned, home-grown and fairly new company has announced their plans to expand in Florence County! I congratulate them on their continued success. The FCEDP staff and board continuously work with existing industry leaders to assist in further expansions in our area,” said Buddy Brand, chairman of the Florence County Economic Development Partnership.
“The news of ICE Recycling expanding and investing here is a testament to Florence County’s pro-business climate. Our skilled labor force is dedicated to excellence and continued growth in Florence County,” said James Schofield, chairman of Florence County Council.
“Florence County continues to distinguish itself as an extremely competitive location to do business,” said state Sen. Hugh K. Leatherman. “As state senator and resident of Florence County, I am thrilled to see them invest and create even more jobs in our county.”
