The Dillon County Council decided at a called meeting last week to purchase the land to expand the C&D Landfill.
Councilman Harold Moody said if they don’t purchase the land, the current C&D Landfill will fill up in five years, and this debris would have to be hauled to Lee County. Councilman Randy Goings asked how long the purchase would give. Young said it give a minimum of 20 years.
Moody said that there was no more adjoining the landfill.
Councilman Joe Johnson asked where the money was going to come from to purchase the land. Young said it was coming out of the solid waste budget.
Johnson made a motion to purchase the land. The motion was seconded by Councilman Buzzy Finklea. The motion was approved by council.
