Crystal Owens, a five-year veteran of the SC Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services, has been named the 2012 Agent of the Year. The award was presented in a ceremony held recently in Columbia by SCDPPPS Director Kela E. Thomas.
Agent Owens was also presented the Mark Hart Probation and Parole Agent of the Year  Award by the Alston Wilkes Society.
Agent Owens is a Global Positioning Satellite tracking specialist for SCDPPPS. In this position, she works in the Agency’s GPS Operations Center in Columbia that tracks several hundred offenders convicted of serious crimes 24/7 throughout the state.
“Agent Owens has shown herself to be an excellent law enforcement agent who has gone above and beyond the normal course of duties,” noted Director Thomas. “She is performing a critical service for the people of South Carolina and reflects extremely well on our department.” 
There are more than 450 Agents working with SCDPPPS.
Agent Owens is a 1999 graduate of Winthrop University and 1993 graduate of Dillon High School . She is a daughter of Jean Hubbard and Elbert Owens of Dillon.
