Dorothy Lee Kearson Van Dyke, 88, died Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Mullins Nursing Home, Mullins, SC.
Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1:30-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends can call at the home of Anne Cromartie at 1100 E. Washington St., Dillon, SC.
Born in DeWitt, VA on January 24, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Henry L. Kearson and Luna Shearin Kearson of Henderson, NC. She was employed by Dixiana Mill on February 8, 1965 and retired on May 1, 1987.
Survivors include her four daughters, Elizabeth Jean Herring (Larry) of Winter Haven, FL, Dorothy Anne Cromartie (George Lauren “Bo”) of Dillon, SC, Betty Barbara Bethea (Homer) of Fort Mill, SC, Ginger Kay Turbeville (Terry) of Castle Hayne, NC; and three sons, Dr. Norwood Jerry Van Dyke (Judy) of Auburn, AL, David Lee Van Dyke of Florence, SC, Edward Bryan Van Dyke (Robin) of Lexington, SC; two sisters, Josephine Williams of Jacksonville, NC, and Janie Pulley of Kittrell, NC; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Van Dyke was preceded in death by by her husband, Norwood G. Van Dyke; a sister, Ersie Neal; and a brother, Bailey L. Kearson.
A heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Mullins Nursing Center and McLeod Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion she was given during her illness.
