The Latta Police Department arrested a wanted felon recently, according to a report by Chief Crystal Moore of the Latta Police Department.
The report states that the Dillon City Police Department received a teletype from 9-1-1 in reference to a wanted felon from several locations. Officer Hayes from the Dillon Police Department gave the information to the Latta Police Department. The Latta Police Department investigated and found that on May 8th, the suspect was seen by a witness staying at a residence on Henry Street. The Latta Police Department got a search warrant to enter the house, but could not confirm that he was at the residence that afternoon. On May 23rd, the Latta Police Department received a tip that he was at the residence on Henry Street. Officers from the Latta Police Department and the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office met and the search warrant was executed. The owner arrived and was advised of the search warrant. The owner said that he had been there earlier, but she did not know where he was. The owner was advised of the dangers of aiding a fugitive and the fact that she
could also be charged. She said she would talk to him and see if he would turn himself in.
On May 24th, the suspect turned himself in to the Latta Police Department. A felony warrant was served on him, and he was released to the Dillon County Detention Center. He was awaiting extradition by the state of Louisiana at the time of this report. The suspect is identified on the report as Christopher Bynum, 37, 502 Henry Street, Latta.
